Here you will find versions of the free open source operating system linux. Based off the UNIX design, Linux is a great replacement for Mac or Windows. There are so may distributions (Versions of linux) That it can be confusing on where to start the switch. Here I Have the versions I recommend. Linux can run on a wide range of old computers to Modern schnazzy rigs. so get your favorite imaging software and lets get to it! Now, before you begin your linux journey, Its not sunshine and rainbows like the other major OS's. It will have issues at some point and attacking those issues will require a lot of searching on your favorite search engine. I promise, if you are a computer enthusiast like me, you can handle it. Linux Ubuntu
Made by canotical, Linux ubuntu was the first linux disto I tried. I liked it so well. This one takes shape of Mac OS in my opinion. Click the orange text to be directed to their website for the latest release

Linux Mint
I came to Linux Mint years later (2024). I always found myself going back to windows due to compatibility issues. Linux Mint in my opinion fixed all of those issues I had. It resembles the windows operating system and makes it very familiar off the bat to use! once you learn the basics of how to use the terminal, I promise you won't find yourself going back to windows as often!
